About Dash
Dash would have made a good psychologist. He’s an excellent listener and always knows how to cheer you up after a bad day. If you need a shoulder to cry on, Dash will curl up next to you, resting his chin on your legs, your head, your lap, to let you know you are loved. Suddenly things don’t seem so bad after all.
Dash has excellent ears for listening. He will flop his soft ears backwards and forwards, one at a time, to achieve maximum listening power. It’s super cute. One look into his puppy-dog eyes and all your problems will be gone.
Despite his sensitive, gentle nature, Dash is a pretty goofy boy. He can forget how big he is and lives ‘if it fits, I sits’. This means he often squeezes himself to into the tightest spaces on the couch or on the floor. To an outsider, he might look pretty uncomfortable, but Dash is happiest when he is folded into a cute little pretzel shape. It makes him feel safe and cosy.
Dash loves being around noise and excitement, so walks are the highlight of his day. He likes having lots of things to smell and see so he prefers walking routes in the busiest areas. Sometimes he gets a bit anxious and freezes on his walks, but this can be alleviated with some gentle coxing. We suspect he will really enjoy the beach during the summer.
No cat or small dog applications please.
No children under six
2 walks a day
No full time workers unless working from home post COVID19
We only consider applications who compete our online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
