On Hold
About Adam - Located in Thornbury
Adam is seeking a forever home that is quiet and calm and child-free, with a patient human. He’s shy and still scared of loud noises, especially the washing machine, but is just starting to come out of his shell, trust humans, and turn into a charismatic and energetic young man.
In 5 weeks, Adam has gone from cowering when touched, to loving head rubs. He’s just started to come out of his mancave and meows and trills for food and rubs on his carer’s legs. He loves playing with his extensive selection of toy mice and has been pawing at the fishing rod toy and occasionally coming out chase it and to jump for it so you will need to continue these play sessions with him.
He’s not ready to hop up on the bed yet and isn’t at the stage where you can try to pick him up, but he’s gaining confidence every day and is now starting to peek out of the bedroom to look at the rest of the house.
Adam’s perfect human will need to continue this work and help him grow in confidence and give him the space and time he needs. Adam may regress when he moves into a new home so will need a safe space to base himself but where you can pat him and entice him out (eg small coffee table in a corner with a blanket over the top and cushion to sit on. And block off small spaces under the bed and couch so he can’t hide out of reach. Adam wouldn’t suit a house with children or where there’s a lot of activity. He hasn’t been tested with other cats and he’s scared of dogs and new humans.

- you are ready to welcome them home NOW. We are unable to hold a cat for you if you are not ready to adopt.
IMPORTANT NOTE - COVID19 PRACTICES
Due to the current lock down in Melbourne we once again need to do things a little differently!
Once you have applied for a cat in our care our foster carer will contact you by telephone. If at the end of this discussion you would like to proceed, we will then arrange an online meet n greet with the carer and cat.
If you think this cat might be your PURRFECT match we will be utilising our premises at Neko HQ in Preston for the final meet n greet and if agreed adoption as our carers are unable to have guest in their homes. We ask that only one person from the family attend, and that all COVID safe practices are followed to ensure your health and that of our volunteers as well as the general community.
We thank you for your patience throughout this process.
