About Rusty
Welcome to another fantastic race day here at the BARC Greyhound track... Our number 1 dog racing today is Rusty the lovely red/fawn male who at 4 years of age is in extreme condition and ready to win your hearts....
And lets face it, that's the only thing this amazing boy is going to win, well other than a race to see who's first in the comfy spot on the couch...
Although he started life in a racing kennel Rusty has spent most of his life in a pet home and is certainly not a racer, this boy is an absolute delight with a winning smile and personality he has fast become a BARC favourite.
Still a young boy and in his physical prime Rusty likes being active and enjoys a chase or some rough and tumble play with other dogs but he has also mastered the art of squeezing himself into a tight ball in order to fit in that gap on the couch or between you and your partner in the bed.
Rusty loves playing with other medium to large size dogs but is probably not suited to a home with small dogs, cats, poultry, livestock or small pocket pets.
Older kids would love to befriend Rusty as long as they can cope with an excitable larger dog and the tail whips which may occur due to him being such an excitable fun loving dog. Rusty would also suit a home with an older person/couple assuming they were active and could take him on regular walks.
This lovely boy is certainly a champion and deserving of the best of homes. If you think that may be with you please contact the staff at BARC on 5441-2209 to arrange a time to meet with Rusty.
Please note due to Covid restrictions we are currently unable to facilitate meet and greets with those from outside regional Victoria.
Available to meet and greet 31/10/20
Ready to leave shelter for new home 05/11/20

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
