Are you looking to get out on some lovely long walks now that summer is here? Great, Shayla wants to come. Shayla loves human company and is a very friendly, affectionate young girl, noting that pointers stay young all their lives. She also loves activities so is best suited to someone with time to devote to long walks, games and enrichment.
Playing with her canine foster brother is a highlight of the day for Shayla and she is generally well-behaved around other dogs while out on her daily strolls, although she can be a little over the top in her eagerness to play sometimes. She would love a home with another big playful dog to use up some of that energy. Some further training will help Shayla with her tendency to pull on the lead and with the hints of anxiety we have seen, as she has lived in the country most of her life. Before the pandemic she was going to regular group training and it shows in her general behavior.
She loves the car and water. She will look for food on benches and can open doors with lever handles. She is a real personality miss.
Shayla is a very vocal dog with noises for every emotion and desire, including a great yodel to the Last Post. Her new forever family will no doubt learn exactly what they all mean and have their own secret canine language in no time. Shayla is such a clever girl that we wouldn’t be surprised if she burst out talking at some point. For now, her intelligence shines when given basic commands and she has quickly learnt the house rules at her foster home.
If you are an active person or family looking for a dog to take on long walks and you have the time to invest in mental stimulation and training, Shayla is waiting to hear from you.
No cats please.
Thank you to Lyndsay of Paw Focus Photography for the fantastic photos of Shayla.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adopters’ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
