About Tyson ~ 11yr Old Boxer (On trial 19/11/20)
Say hello to Tyson, a strapping Boxer who is 11 in a couple of months. I am looking for a very special home who can give a lifetime of love in his time remaining.
Tyson came into care very underweight and has since flourished in a foster environment and is now healthy and ready for adoption. He is currently living with another dog and they get on well. He would be happy with or without a dog in his forever home, but if it there was another dog, a mature dog would be the best fit, no puppies or young dogs.
Tyson has had a number of skin cancers burned off while in care, so his sunbaking days as over and he needs to be welcomed inside all the time, even when you’re not home. His new home need to be committed to regularly checking him for any new spots and getting vet treatment early so they don’t become a problem.
When allowed inside, he is a very well behaved boy. He will stress if he is locked outside, which is another reason why he needs to be allowed inside all the time. But don’t worry, he isn’t a chewer, is toilet trained and can use a dog door, so while you’re out he will just laze about and you will probably hear him snoring when you return. He currently sleeps in his crate with the door open, but as long as he has a comfy bed he is happy.
He hasn’t been tested with cats while in care, but I think he would be ok and we can cat test him if you have a cat. I would love a home for him that is a similar stage in life, a quiet home, with people home more often than not. He currently lives with young children in his foster home, but that is not the ideal situation for him long term, while he is a senior, he is a bit clumsy and would knock over young children or anyone not steady on their feet. He would be fine with visiting children though. I also want a home that can give him all of their attention.
Training has been a bit slow as Tyson is a bit hard on hearing in his old age. So far he has mastered to sit and wait for his food. He is a very smart boy though and very cheeky, so he should pick up on other commands with time.
If you're interested in adopting this gorgeous boy, and fit the description above, please contact his foster carer Melissa at melissapollo64@gmail.com. You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
His adoption fee is $300 which includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping. He is up to date on worming and flea treatments.
