About Samson ~ 9mo Kitten (on trial 31/10/20)
Meet the very very special Samson!
Samson is a 9month old kitten, who definitely falls into the category of “dog-cat”. He is a big, fluffy, tuxedo boy. He is looking for a home where he can be absolutely enjoyed and cherished. He’s not a cat who will just exist in the background.
Samson is cuddly and affectionate to the extreme. He’s a lap cat, and will knead the air when he’s given scratches. He will follow you around the house, and happily relax and sleep next to you while you’re doing work. He’s not very talkative, but he LOVES playing. He’s actually taken a liking to dog toys. He also loves his flat scratching board.
Samson does hilarious and cute things all the time. His new owners will certainly have their phone camera roll full of Samson content. It also doesn’t hurt that he is amazingly handsome. His longer fur will require some brushing - but luckily he loves this. He has travelled amazingly in the car, settles in wherever he goes, and loves everyone he meets. He’s very sociable with people, and is sure to delight visitors to your house.
Samson came into DRN care with his sister Delilah, he was adopted to an awesome couple - but, it turns out Samson is really not all about that apartment life. It was not the right home for him.... size wise.
Samson needs a bigger house to explore - ideally - he could also have a SECURE outdoor cat enclosure or “catio”. Samson walks well on a lead and harness and enjoys exploring outdoors. DRN only adopts cats to indoor homes, but there are safe ways to enable your cat to explore outdoors safely.
Samson loves attention, he would be the perfect pet to a single person who is regularly home (with a larger house), a couple, a house of adults, or a family with children over 5. Samson can get pretty playful so is probably not suited to homes with very small children. While Samson loves people, and spent plenty of time with his sister, he has displayed some trepidation around other cats. He isn’t aggressive, just defensive, and appears to mostly enjoy being the centre of attention.
He is currently in foster care with a resident cat and dog, and while there have been no issues, he doesn’t enjoy their company. His ideal home would be one with no existing cats. Samson LOVES food. Until he settles into his new environment, Samson can be a little Obsessive over food. He will need to be fed meals and not have food available to him all day. We don’t come across cats like Samson very often. He is an extremely special, people-focused cat, who is completely memorable and will be a fantastic companion.
If you can offer Samson a home where he has:
-Space to run and explore (no apartment living).
-Toys, scratching post and games
-Structure and routine
-Ideally no other animals
-Plenty of love and attention
-A valued place in your household and family

Samson has been desexed, and is up to date with his vaccinations, flea and worm treatment. He is currently in foster care in Waratah West, a suburb of Newcastle NSW. His adoption fee is $200.
