Requirements:
• Needs a family that has experience with high levels of anxiety and a good understanding of the training required
• Would suit a home with calm older children if any.
• A home with a resident dog to help show her the wayl
• Not to be left on her own for extended periods.
• Will need to have plenty of time to help Cherylferguson transition to her new home and continue with her training to help build her confidence and reduce her anxiety.
Cherylferguson has had some very negative experiences in her life which has cause her to be highly anxious, terrified and extremely afraid of people especially males. Over time we have gained her trust and she is learning that people are wonderful to be around, they have treats and give great cuddles. With a huge amount of patience, some tough love and bucket loads of TLC she has made some amazing progress but now she needs to find a home that is committed to continuing with this training to help her overcome her major anxiety issues and give her the best doggy life ever.
Cherylferguson has had to learn to walk on a lead and is now great on a harness and actually gets excited when she sees the lead. She loves to go for a walk around the neighbourhood or at the local park and has enjoyed dipping her toes in the water. She does like to walk at the back of the group so she can see what everyone is doing and will stop if she hears or sees something behind her. She is also getting more confident when it comes to travelling in the car and with gentle encouragement will jump into the car on her own.
Cherylferguson is a very well-behaved dog although she has had no doggy training and does not understand basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘drop’ or ‘stay’. She is starting to get excited when she comes inside or when we get home from work and will jump up on us to get our attention or affection. She is learning good behaviour by following our dog and will go outside on command and come when we call her. Once she is confident and settled she will become more responsive to training and would benefit from this to help her socialise with other dogs and make a positive connection with her new family.
Cherylferguson is a very gentle girl who is gaining confidence and slowly feeling more comfortable to do normal doggy things. She loves to play with toys and will take them to her bed to keep them close. She is very cat friendly and kid friendly although the chaos and noise that comes with younger children can frighten her so she may find it easier and quicker to settle in her new home if it is a calm and quiet environment.
Cherylferguson is finally starting to become a normal dog who loves to have a pat, gets excited when she sees the harness and her family and spends lots of time sleeping in the house. With the help of her new family she will be able to keep making progress in her forever home. She is a beautiful sweet soul and with dedicated training and TLC she will make a wonderful member of the family.
