About Gatsby
Meow.... Now that I have your attention, let me introduce myself...
I am Gatsby, a short-haired ginger kitty with a peculiar personality... Almost to the point that contradicts cat stereotypes! I am best friends with 2 Border Collies (BC). If given the opportunity I will join my foster carers in the shower and I even enjoy belly rubs!
The kitten within me usually comes out of a morning and evening. People say BCs are meant to be intelligent dogs, but I can easily outsmart them in hide and seek. I also enjoy playing with their fluffy tails and rolling around in the empty bathtub.
Outside of play hours, I spend my time laying on the windowsill basking in the sun, curling up in the bathroom sink or stretching out on the couch on the ""silky"" blanket.
Despite being found fending for myself on the streets prior to coming to SAFE, I am very domesticated. Since being in foster care I have shown a positive response to house training and using my kitty litter. I am even learning from my foster parents what is appropriate to scratch (my scratching post) and what is not (the couch).
I do however get very jealous when my BC friends get to go outside and play so my foster carers must be extra diligent to make sure I don't try and slip out the door with them. But with time I am starting to enjoy the coolness of the indoor lifestyle. So much so that an air-conditioned room is not enough and at every opportunity I try and hide in the fridge!
Although I am in my teenage years, I am one pretty chilled cat. I do not mind being picked up or carried around and even during play I am quite gentle. So if care is taken, I could be suited to families with children. In fact, I have shown to be very adaptable so well suited to almost any household if it's filled with love and affection.
Due to the current Cat Laws in WA we encourage people to keep their rescued cat as a permanent indoor cat or with access to a safe cat run. It is no longer desirable to allow your cat to wander onto adjoining properties. Confident cats can also be trained to walk on a harness and lead. We ask that owners be responsible and keep their adopted cat safe at all times so that you will have a long and loving life together.
I CAN FLY TO PERTH!
Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to you in Perth.
