About Billy
** ON HOLD - NO NEW ENQUIRIES PLEASE**
**PLEASE NOTE: adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive socialisation with other people/dogs/puppies, grooming, training, playtime and cuddles. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is as puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Billy
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Owner surrender with his 3 littermates.
ENERGY LEVEL/BREED: Typical pup at the moment, plays, eats, poops and sleeps! Down the line he will need daily walks with regular socialisation and interaction with his owner and other people and dogs/puppies around him.
BREED TRAITS: We believe that the litter had at least two different sires. Billy is a mixed breed pup but has similarities to the Shih Tzu. This breed are lively, intelligent, spunky, affectionate, outgoing and have happy temperaments. They have an ability to get on with people of all ages, other dogs and pet species. They can suffer from the heat and cold so are not outside dogs. They are companion/lap dogs and just want to be with their people.
ASSETS: He's friendly, outgoing, and very playful! He also loves to snuggle with his human, and will bark to get attention.
FAVOURITE THINGS: He loves to lay down in the grass at his foster home and rub his tummy on it and roll around. He also LOVES squeaky toys and will nibble your toes at any opportunity!
WORKING ON: Housetraining. It's early days so he will need some gentle training and persistent gentle signals to remind him to go outside to do his business. Expect some accidents while he's learning! He will also need lead and command training. Puppy school and ongoing training are a must for him.
HOME ESSENTIALS:
*Stability: An experienced home, where someone is around for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take him with them when they go out.
*Time: Billy needs an owner who will put in the time to expose him to new experiences and to train and socialise him with new people as well as dogs. Structured classes where he can learn, socialise and have safe exposure are a must and 2 good walks a day are essential to keep him happy. He would love another youngish dog to play with.
*Space: Billy needs a well fenced, secure yard to run around in to burn off his playful energy, with lots of grass (he just loves it!) and interesting things for him to sniff.
*Love: Billy needs to be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses, and to be included as part of the family. He would be great with gentle children (6+) who have had a good amount of exposure to dogs throughout their childhood.
If Billy sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send in an enquiry and we will be in touch.
