About Gus
When a working dog slows down, there is not much to do for him to do on the farm. At 10 years old, Gus’s days of rounding up the goats are far behind him but there is lots of life left in the old boy yet. I know that they say that nobody is perfect but, I have to tell you, Gus is about as close as they come. This boy is totally divine! He is gentle and loving and loyal and affectionate. He loves the car, will eat as many treats as he is offered and is looking for a retirement home where he can hang up his work boots and enjoy the quiet life. Sure, Gus still loves to go for a walk, but he also loves to just wander around the garden or snooze at the feet of his human. Gus enjoys being inside and he is very well behaved in the house. For a dog who has earned his living as a farmhand, he certainly enjoys the finer things in life. Gus is amazing with other dogs and cats. He is totally non-reactive and would rather just walk away than engage in any shenanigans. At 10 years old, Gus is slowing down, his teeth are worn, his hearing isn’t as sharp as it used to be and his joints don’t quite move as well as they used to but he has seen the vet this morning and has received a clean bill of health. Gus would fit in to almost any family, but his ideal home would probably be with people at a similar stage of life as he is. People who enjoy the quiet life, enjoy gentle walks and want a dog who will happily go with them, wherever they are going. Gus is not a guard dog. He thinks everyone is his friend and that everyone is secretly only there to give him pats. Gus’s nose works extremely well, and he can sniff out treats, even when you tell them there are none left. Gus loves to be touched and will nudge your hand when you stop patting him. This boy is an absolute treasure and after having him for just a couple of days, I had to ask one of our team to take him and foster him because if I had him for a minute longer, I would be keeping him! If you are looking for a truly special boy, a distinguished gentleman, a one in a million dog, please consider giving Gus the retirement home he deserves.
