About Smoochy Sarge
Introducing Sarge, a smoochy silver tabby boy with an incredible rescue story. He is FIV positive but we don’t think this is a big deal (more info on that later). Sarge came into care from the streets in a lot of pain, suffering from poor dentition, fleas, malnutrition and diarrhoea from a bad diet after scavenging on the street. We got him seen by the vet, treated and once on good quality meals he recovered quickly - a testament to his trusting nature and inner strength.
Sarge’s lasting medical issues include his blind left eye (due to a past injury), his four remaining teeth (and resultant drooling when he’s happy), and his FIV positive status. Aside from that, he’s put on weight, his skin has healed and his beautiful silver fur has grown back so he’s feeling very handsome.
Sarge is a smoochy, loving boy who loves pats and human attention. He has been in care for a few months and is now ready for the forever home he truly deserves after a hard life like his. He would do best in a quieter home, with older children and could probably cope with a relaxed dog. He will still startle to loud noises, and will need a little time to settle in until showing you what a gorgeous boy he is. If you have a Sarge-sized hole in your heart, please send us a message :)
Please note that Sarge is FIV+, which means that while he is immunocompromised (similar to HIV), if kept strictly indoors, up to date on flea/worm treatments and yearly vaccinations, and fed a raw healthy diet, he can still live a long healthy life. Cats with FIV rarely progress to AIDS (unlike the human virus), in fact only in 5% of cases, which means 19/20 cats will likely die of old age before anything FIV related. It is rarely transmitted to other animals (or humans) via casual contact, and only really becomes an issue if taking out pet insurance. Please don’t be afraid to adopt a FIV+ cat, they need loving homes too!
Medical notes
Our cats come desexed, vaccinated (1st F3 & booster), microchipped, FIV & FELV tested and will have up to date worm and flea treatments. There is a one-time council registration fee which is compulsory in NSW, that will need to be met at completion of the adoption trial. Please note their age in this ad is an estimate only. They are rescue cats and their foster parents do not know their precise age or family history and cannot guarantee their future health.
