About Arrow
Hi there, I'm Arrow and I'm ready for you to point me in the direction of my forever home!
I'm a sweet young greyhound, or possibly a greyhound cross - I don't know, really! Either way, I was lucky enough to find my way to the good folks at Greyhound Rescue when I was just a pup and they've found me a wonderful foster home where I'm loving life. I'm certainly not shy about asking for lots of affection, so if you take me home, get ready for plenty of playtime and puppy kisses!
Being a young lad, I've got plenty of energy for life and a very inquisitive spirit. I fancy myself a bit of a detective and I like to thoroughly check out all my surroundings, especially if there's food about! I can get quite excited about walkies time and I'm still learning my manners on a lead, but I'm sure that's something we can work on together. I'd love a family who could do some training and enrichment with me so I can put my sleuthy snoot and clever mind to good use.
When it comes to people, I'm the sweetest boy ever! I can sometimes be a little shy when we first meet, but once I warm up to you I'm the sweetest little guy and I'll give you lots of kisses. I have some definite velcro dog tendencies, which means I'm still learning how to be alone and will need my new people to help me practice this. My ideal home would be one where I'm not alone for long periods of time, and where my humans can give me lots of love and attention... with my happy sunny disposition you won't be able to resist anyway!
I'm sharing my foster home with another greyhound and we get along great, but I'm not always subtle about showing affection or wanting to play, so if my forever home has another dog they will need to be patient with me. I haven't met too many small dogs so while I might do fine with practice, it's probably best my new home doesn't have any of them. I'm also a little nervous around kids, so I'll need a home without any of them please.
Some notes from Arrow's foster family
Arrow is a loving boy who loves showing affection and having a cuddle. Still loves to have a nap through the day but has a bit more energy than a greyhound which means he loves to have a play with you. Would suit a family who is a bit more active with a backyard.
As he’s still a puppy, he does like to chew and play a little rough, so will need a family that can get him through that puppy phase.
Arrow is dictated by his belly. He gets a bit excited and bouncy around dinner time, and if you're a minute past 6pm he's not shy about speaking up to remind you haha!Arrow doesn't always understand the concept of personal space. He plays well with his foster brother, although if his foster brother isn't in the mood, Arrow might not always get the hint right away. We often chuck balls around with them in the late afternoon in the backyard to allow Arrow to burn off some steam. They both have their own favourite toys and Arrow is great about sharing them.
Arrow can be a bit strong walking on the leash and needs some training on interacting with other dogs while walking. His family will need to take it slow with him in this regard.
Arrow is a bit scared around smaller kids, so it's best he doesn't go to a home with any of them.

Adoption details
All of Greyhound Rescue's adoption and foster placements are on a case-by-case basis. We go to great lengths to match each dog with their new family to make sure that both dog and family are happy. We offer post-adoption support to our rescue community so that each adoptive family and hound are cared for.
We will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Greyhound Rescue's adoption fee is $420. All our hounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and heartworm tested and treated. The adoption fee also includes our New Adopter Kit - collar, leash, muzzle and loads of other goodies to help you get your new hound settled into the family.
