About Rosie
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive socialisation with other people/dogs/puppies, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is as puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Rosie
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Owner surrender with her 2 littermates.
ENERGY LEVEL/BREED: Typical pup at the moment, plays, eats, poops and sleeps! Down the line she will need daily walks with regular socialisation and interaction with her owner and other people and dogs/puppies around her.
BREED TRAITS
Staffordshire Bull Terrier: Even though Staffys look tough they are mostly affectionate and loving dogs with family - known as Nanny dogs they are great with children if brought up with them correctly. They love to be with their people and do not cope with being alone, with you they are happy, therefore they are not outside dogs. They are energetic and need a really good work out every day. Early training is essential with this breed especially consistent and positive socialisation with other dogs - a remnant of their origins as a fighting breed means they can be unfriendly towards unknown dogs. Bold, intelligent, reliable, and loyal, this breed is not for novice owners.
Bullmastiff: originally bred as a guard dog, this breed is affectionate with family but can be standoffish with strangers. Sensitive and loving to his clan he is a powerful and courageous guardian They are independent thinkers so training and socialisation to people, places and other dogs should start young. Best as an inside dog he needs to be protected from overheating. They have low to medium energy requirements but can excel in various dog sports. He is a drooler and definitely not for novice owners.
ASSETS: She's friendly, easy-going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, submissive, obedient and is an absolute sweetheart! She loves to play and adores loves belly rubs and snuggles.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Favourite games include playing tug of war and chasey with the other dogs in her foster home. She also loves to chew on her treats!
WORKING ON: Housetraining. It's starting to come together but she will need some gentle training and persistent gentle signals to remind her to go outside. She will also need lead and command training. Puppy school and ongoing training is a must for her.
HOME ESSENTIALS:
* Stability: An experienced home, where someone is around for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take her with them when they go out.
* Time: Rosie needs an owner who will put in the time to expose her to new experiences and to train and socialise her with new people as well as dogs. Structured classes where she can learn, socialise and have safe exposure are a must and 2 good walks a day are essential to keep her happy. She would love another youngish dog to play with.
* Space: Rosie needs a well fenced, secure yard to run around in to burn off her playful energy, with some grass and interesting things for her to sniff.
* Love: Rosie needs to be allowed to be inside or out as she chooses, and to be included as part of the family. She is sensitive to cold and hot so will need to be kept safely away from extremes of temperature. She would be great with gentle children (6+) who have had a good amount of exposure to dogs throughout their childhood.
If Rosie sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send in an enquiry and we will be in touch.
