About Big Red - Located in Burnley
G’day Australia. I am The Big Red, you can also call me The Big Redski and I’m looking for a forever home. Life was tough for me. I once was a stray cat, surviving the tough streets and fighting for food. You can see that I bear some of those battle scars on my nose, around the eyes and a few on my ears. One day my world turned upside down, when I was rescued by Maneki Neko.
I must admit living indoor in an apartment scared me at first. But I began to realise this is not a bad thing. My foster carer gives me pats, lots of chin scratches, tasty meals and a warm bed to sleep on. Although I admit I prefer sleeping under the human’s couch. It took me a couple of days to realise, with a lot of pampering, treats, pats and chin scratches, that living indoors with humans is not a bad thing! I am very timid and shy at first and get easily spooked by sudden movements and loud noises, but once I feel comfortable around you, there’s no stopping me from looking for any and every opportunity to sit beside you and demand belly rubs and pats.
I love to laze around all day on the couch or in my hidey hole and keep an eye on my foster carer. My foster carer says I’m quite the snuggle bug, well mannered and friendly boy with proper toilet manners. I’m still unsure about toys. I am not too interested in them. Maybe you can convince me otherwise?
I would be suitable to quiet households with adults as in indoor cat. My foster carer hasn’t seen me interacting with other dogs, cats or other animals, and given my shy and timid nature, he feels it would be best that I be the only pet in the household. I also don’t mind getting a brush from my foster carer now and then to keep my trimmed fur in tip top condition. However it is important to note that it’ll require a certain level of maintenance in order to prevent fur matting. My foster human has also made me a bit of an Instagram sensation ! He thinks I have a certain level of pizzazz! You can find me on #thebigredski on Instagram.

IMPORTANT NOTE - COVID19 PRACTICES
Due to the current lock down in Melbourne we once again need to do things a little differently!
Once you have applied for a cat in our care our foster carer will contact you by telephone. If at the end of this discussion you would like to proceed, we will then arrange an online meet n greet with the carer and cat.
If you think this cat might be your PURRFECT match we will be utilising our premises at Neko HQ in Preston for the final meet n greet and if agreed adoption as our carers are unable to have guest in their homes. We ask that only one person from the family attend, and that all COVID safe practices are followed to ensure your health and that of our volunteers as well as the general community.
We thank you for your patience throughout this process.
