About Rex
Important notes:-
Please only apply for Rex if you have another medium/large friendly and playful dog.
Rex is not suitable for apartment living as he will need some space to romp and play with his new fur sibling.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applicants from outside of NSW at this time with the exception of ACT
Profile, personality, and home requirements
Rex came to us recently from a country pound recently and is a super loving, gorgeous, smart, goofy ball of energy always eager to please who loves his squeaky toys, loves you holding his paw, and loves cuddles:) He just loves everyone he meets. His foster carers have taught him sit, shake and drop in just the short time he has been in care with them.
At approximately 7/8 months of age Rex still has some growing to do and we believe he will be medium/large size. Rex is at a critical stage in his socialisation, so will need an experienced owner with previous experience raising a medium/large breed pup to ensure that he continues to grow up to be a good canine citizen that we know he can be and will need a home that has the time, is committed to his ongoing training using positive reinforcement methods and mental stimulation ie enrichment games and ongoing physical training. As Rex is a working breed mix and therefore is super smart and has an active brain, Rex is not suitable for a home where he is just left in a backyard with another dog as his only stimulation.
Rex gets along well with most playful dogs. He can get a bit uncertain around dogs that do not instigate play with him and bark at him so his new owner will have to continue to work on his interaction with other dogs so that his development in this regard will continue.
Rex walks well on the leash and is friendly to all people and dogs that he meets on the walk.
Rex MUST go to a home with another young medium/large-sized, playful, friendly and well-adjusted dog who he can follow and continue to learn from. Rex likes to play, play, play with his canine companions and then rest with them.
Rex will need an active home where he will get at least two walks a day and would love a home where he could get to go on adventures to the beach, park, or anywhere outside of the backyard, as much as he loves a good romp in the backyard with his foster brother getting out and about is just as important for this country lad.
He is good in the car and in the house so a home where Rex will be allowed access to inside and be part of the family and of course sleep inside in a warm area of the home of the night is a must as he just loves being with his humans...did we mention cuddles are his favorite thing:) Rex would love to be able to cuddle on the lounge with you from time to time:) Of course, he will also need a home that can provide supervision in the coming months so that he can continue to learn boundaries from his new family and be a good pupstar in the home environment.
Whilst Rex is very friendly with everyone he is probably suited to a home with older children if you have children.
Rex has lived with a cat before
He would prefer a home where his new family are not away from the home for long periods but is ok to be left for shorter periods.
If you feel you have the right environment for the gorgeous Rex to continue to grow, develop and thrive and have the time to put into this awesome pupstar then as noted above please email us with some information (via email sasrescue@gmail) about your family, lifestyle, working hours, location, and of course your other dog etc. so that we can see if you Rex are a good match.
