About Teddy
Woof! Can I be your Teddy Bear?
The names Teddy, and I am a handsome 5y.o male greyhound looking for my furever home!
I love belly pats and will present my tum to my foster pawrents to ensure they don’t forget to fill my daily quota. I also adore dinner time and will pinball my way down the hallway to make sure I don’t miss out! I am looking for a home with a confident and experienced dog owner who will help me continue to come out of my shell and relax in retirement.
I am a man of routine – I love my morning walks and make sure my foster pawrents stick to a strict feeding schedule! My foster pawrents say I am a typical greyhound – while I do wake up boisterous and ready to face the day, after breakfast and a walk I do like to have a nap (or three!). I would prefer a hooman that works part-time or from home, as I enjoy company whilst lounging.
I require a home which understands the importance of comfy dog beds; both in the sun and the shade. Whilst I have become very accustomed to living in a home, I am still less sure on slippery floors and feel more secure on carpet and rugs.
Like many ex-racing greyhounds, I have some resourcing guarding behaviour (I never had such nice things!) and so will need an owner experienced in resource guarding or someone willing to learn and continue my training. For this reason as well I am best suited to a solo dog home with no cats or kids, though I am quite the gentlemen on walks and am friendly to other dogs I meet.
So if you’re looking for a companion to explore new places with and show the world, I am your man!
SUMMARY:
- solo dog home
- WFH or part-time workers
- no cats or kids
- outdoor space
Adoption details
STEP 1 – ENQUIRE & EOI FORM:
Click 'Enquire about this pet' to contact us or email us at adoptions@greytgreys.org to express interest in the hound that you are looking at. We'll send you an EOI form, this must be returned before proceeding.
If the greyhound you have applied for is unavailable or unsuitable, we can match you with a more suitable greyhound. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family.
STEP 2 – LET'S CHAT:
We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 – HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $350.00 and must be paid on on the day of the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 3 week trial. Support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If after the 3 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
> Collar, lead & coat
> Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
> Flea & worm treated
> Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
> Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support.
