BEHAVIOURAL: SEPERATION ANXIETY. BIG DOG EXPERIENCED HOME.
This is our handsome cool guy Kai. We love him so much and having him around makes your household feel warmer. He is a young and super sweet Wolfhound Bull Arab mix- like a Bull Arab with scruffy fur. Kai is loved by everyone that meets him and he is always excited and happy to be around his humans. Kai follows you everywhere and he wants to constantly be by your side. He’s got his own cute and goofy personality that wins everyone over. He’s happy if he’s being cuddled, playing with a toy and just hanging out with you, his best mate!
Kai is mostly easy to handle but he does come with some needs- He has SEPERATION ANXIETY. He needs somewhere where the time alone will be minimal. Experience with anxious dogs preferred- this can be an intense thing if he is left alone he can become extremely destructive.
EXERCISE: He needs a somewhat active home and walks pretty good on the leash but pulls strongly when excited. CONFIDENT HANDLER NEEDED. Generally he goes for two walks a day if possible, one is fine, however the more you tire him out the less energetic and playful he will be and he would benefit well from an active home.
TRAINING: Kai is house trained and he is very obedient once he knows his place. He is responsive and listens very well. He constantly wants to be near you and if he isn’t in the same room he tends to get whiney but after his routine is established he learns and is okay. He is a smart boy and knows shake and high five and further obedience training would be awesome to mentally stimulate him. He’s a very fast learner and knows his boundaries in the house and sleeps quietly during the night once he is settled. You will have to be consistent with him initially. He still has that puppy energy and can be cheeky.
Kai will initially be hesitant of strangers in his territory/some males and might give you a fright with his deep bark when he is surprised by a new person, especially in his home, but he is so sweet that as soon as you go up to him after his initial hesitant greeting he melts in your arms.
CHILDREN: Kai is fine with children as he loves people but like big dogs he gets energy bursts and plays and jumps roughly. Older kids only. Big dog owners know these energy bursts where he can jump and use his mouth is too much for kids.
OTHER ANIMALS: Kai is untested with cats. But no cats most likely.
Kai is good on the leash but when he sees another dog especially small he can be very strong. He may react negatively to small dogs.
Kai gets along with big dogs now but initially didn't. He has come a long way. He plays very rough and is not suitable to be around smaller dogs. *PLEASE SEE ATTACHED VIDEO.* Kai would need to be monitored closely with any new dog.
If you are not experienced with big dogs and Kai's occasional excitement, jumping and mouthing could be too much for you. It is a requirement you can handle bigger, excitable dogs.
KAI HAS SEPERATION ANXIETY. He has slowly gotten better but we prefer he goes to a home if possible where someone will be around/NOT FULL TIME WORKERS. He is majorly destructive/extremely stressed when alone.
NEEDS & REQUIREMENTS: Please read his specific needs here and answer to yourself if you think you can meet his requirements:
• Experience with anxious dogs/no full time workers. Home almost always or work from home
• A home without very young children.
• A home with someone who understands big dog personalities.
Kai is awesome and we are loving having him in foster care. He deserves a chance to work through his seperation anxiety issues and we hope for someone who will accept him for the way he is.
