About Lurch
Hi there, I'm Lurch! Some people think I'm a polar bear because I'm so big, fluffy and white... a ridiculous accusation if you ask me - I'm just a big fuzzy hound who can't wait to be your friend!
I might be named after a big scary TV character, but don't worry, the only thing we share is our size - there's nothing scary about me! I'm a big teddy bear really, nothing makes me happier than leaning against you for some gentle pats and ear scratches.
Since arriving at Greysland I've been learning all about toys, and oh boy, I can't get enough of those! I hope there are lots of toys at my forever home too!
I get along well with big dogs and don't mind medium sized ones, but I'm still learning manners around small dogs, so I'd prefer a home without any of them please. It's probably best my forever home doesn't have any young kids either - it's not that I don't like them, but I wouldn't want to accidentally bowl them over due to my size!
Apart from that, I'm a pretty easygoing dude and I love nothing more than roaching the day away on a comfy bed. I walk well on the lead and I'm quite happy with apartment living!
Adoption details
All of Greyhound Rescue's adoption and foster placements are on a case-by-case basis. We go to great lengths to match each dog with their new family to make sure that both dog and family are happy. We offer post-adoption support to our rescue community so that each adoptive family and hound are cared for.
We will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Greyhound Rescue's adoption fee is $385. All our hounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and heartworm tested and treated. The adoption fee also includes our New Adopter Kit - collar, leash, muzzle and loads of other goodies to help you get your new hound settled into the family.
