About Levi
Hi there, I'm Levi! I'm a handsome boy and an accomplished lounge lizard - I love nothing more than spending the day relaxing in a comfy sunny spot. Lucky for me, I've found my way to a wonderful foster home!
I came to Greyhound Rescue with some sore feet caused by some corns on my paws, which might explain my love of roaching with my feet in the air! To help keep me happy while walking, I'll need to wear boots on my walks - I think they look quite fetching on me though! Apart from that, I'm a happy sort who loves meeting new people and asking them for some affection... who could resist?
Some notes from Levi's foster family
Levi is just the sweetest, most lovable and happy boy you've ever met. He's a little active gentleman and deserves the best home! If someone wants a greyhound he's pretty much exactly what you're looking for. Oh, and he's super super handsome!
Levi is a super confident and outgoing pup. He is well adjusted and highly affectionate with all people, and LOVES a good pat and cuddle. He is well behaved and polite, but also often super playful. He has become an extremely active dog who loves car rides, walks and smelling all new places and things. He much prefers soft squeaky toys to chewy ones, but will usually have fun with any toy. He always enjoys attention and close company, and his preferred spot is usually right at your feet, no matter what you're doing. In true greyhound fashion he loves to sleep a lot.
He deals well with being left alone, and we have observed him on our doggie cam usually just sleeping and relaxed while we are away. We have only ever left him alone for about 4 hours, but we are confident he'd be okay with a full time worker if needed. That being said, he would naturally prefer to be around someone more often.
Levi is mostly apathetic towards other dogs, and ignores most of them while walking. However, he has reacted to dogs a few times, either smaller dogs or ones that approached a bit too quickly and aggressively. At this stage we think he'd be best around another greyhound, but he hasn't had a chance to get to know another dog well, so this is likely to change given his playfulness.
While incredibly calm most of the time, at times he may be a bit too enthusiastic for small children: he jumps a lot, likes to zoom and occasionally plays a bit rough with his toys. He'd be better suited for older kids. Even so, he is very tolerant of small children petting and hugging him - and in fact loves the attention and contact, enthusiastically leaning into it for as long as you're willing to pat him.
Other points:
- He still has 2 big corns on the front right and back left feet, but they don't seem to bother him too much or slow him down at all.
- He occasionally reverse sneezes.
- His tummy is a little sensitive.
- No signs of sleep startle.
- Great with stairs.
Medical notes
Levi has corns on some of his paws and must wear boots while walking.
Adoption details
All of Greyhound Rescue's adoption and foster placements are on a case-by-case basis. We go to great lengths to match each dog with their new family to make sure that both dog and family are happy. We offer post-adoption support to our rescue community so that each adoptive family and hound are cared for.
We will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Greyhound Rescue's adoption fee is $420. All our hounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and heartworm tested and treated. The adoption fee also includes our New Adopter Kit - collar, leash, muzzle and loads of other goodies to help you get your new hound settled into the family.
