Hi friends!!
My name is Django. I originally entered OTC care as a young dog around 6 months old, when my breeder abandoned me in the council pound. I was then adopted into a loving home, but unfortunately a few years later they experienced marriage breakdown and hardship, and myself and my other doggy friend had to be rehomed. I came back to OTC care, and am now ready to find a furever family.
Since coming back into care, I have been wonderful to care for. At 36kg, I am fully grown but still consider myself the perfect 'lap dog'- so be prepared for couch snuggles! I am a friendly, obedient dog who is food orientated and relaxed. I like to play tug-o-war and chase balls, and learn new skills quickly- I am very clever! I would suit most households and will make a very entertaining and loyal pet. I love nothing more than laying quietly with you and would be happy as an inside dog, or an outside dog if I have a doggy friend to keep me company.
I don't really like baths, but stand there patiently while you do it. A strip of peanut butter up the shower wall certainly helps keep me happy during these tedious jobs! I have met human children 6yrs + and do great with them, but do not like cats- please do not try to make me live with cats or small animals. I know to sit and wait for food, and then we do 'shake', and I can eat. I know not to barge in at doors, and will wait to be invited. I sleep inside at night, and just chill on my bed. I have great house training. Sometimes I want to sleep outside, if eg my foster brothers won't stop mucking around and I want to sleep. I will snuggle up on my bed or in the kennel. I don't mind sleeping outside, and I will bark if someone goes past the yard. I'm an amazing alarm/watch dog, no visitors go unnoticed here! I do prefer to be inside at night, however. I'm a family man.
During the day I am used to entertaining myself if my carers aren't home. I will usually just nap, suss out the toys in the yard, or wrestle with the other dogs. I am dog friendly but do not appreciate hyper, pushy dogs with no manners- I will defend myself if I am harrassed and constantly being jumped on by out-of-control dogs. But if I am matched with a calm, social, and balanced dog, I will go great. I have lived with other dogs all my life and like their company! I am very well behaved at the vet, and do great in the car, too. I get harnessed in and just sit and watch the world go by! I love the beach, and look forward to my 4x weekly walks. What good sniffs can we find today?!
My ideal home has 6ft fencing, will take me out for walks 4x a week minimum so I can see the world and run, sniff, roll- and will treat me as part of the family.
I am a placid, loving, loyal dog who deserves a better life. Can that be with you?
Medical notes
I was heartworm tested in July 2020, and found negative (yay!). I have been kept up to date since then!
Adoption details
PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All pets must be collected from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld- this is adopter responsibility. We appreciate your understanding.
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. Photos may be sent to our facebook page, or email offthechaink9rescue@outlook.com
ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OTCadoptionapp
If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
