About Bailey ~ Wolfhound X GSD (On Trial 12/09/20)
Once in a lifetime, you find that pup that is one in a million. Meet Bailey, and like the pup from A Dog’s Purpose, this guy seems like he’s been here before. Bailey is a 14wk old Wolfhound X German Shepherd X Kelpie and is such a loving and loyal soul. He absolutely adores snuggling up on the couch with you or laying in his bed at your feet while you work. He really just wants to be with you everywhere and always. Definitely bound to be the world’s best and most loyal doggo.
Bailey has only been in care a short time but has shown some serious talent for learning new things. He has mastered sit for his meals, and is now learning to wait until told to eat. He sits on command and has learnt to go to his bed, lay down and stay while his foster mum is working from home. He is mastering the art of sleeping in a crate and going to it when told. Bailey would benefit from someone with breed experience to further his education and give him the best all round start possible. This very smart pup will go a long way in the right hands.
Whilst in care, Bailey has not been tested with pockets pets. Prior to coming into care, Bailey has lived with a cat, which he played with and was respectful of when told off. His current foster home does have caged birds which he does not pay much attention to. Bailey will suit a home with slightly older children, 12 and over. Whilst he is very child friendly, he does have the typical puppy tendency to forget himself and get overly excited. This may upset young children and he would hate to make someone sad. Being a big boy, he will require fencing of 6ft, secure colour-bond. Unfortunately no rural mesh fencing will be accepted.
Baileys perfect home would be with someone who is home throughout the day or can go to work too, as he adores his humans and just wants to be close to them at all times. Bailey will require an active home, and an environment where he can exercise and be taken on lots of walks and adventures. He must be welcomed inside as he has been raised this way and loves bonding time and being a part of the family in all ways.
Bailey has said his perfect home would also have a doggy play mate, someone no older than 5yrs old and about his size to play and run with and learn how to be the perfect doggo. Please note that this is a super important element of Baileys rehoming. Homes without another dog already living within the home will not be considered.
He gets along super well with his foster doggo family, all of which are larger breed dogs. Bailey would suit a home with similar sized dogs due to his age and projected size. He’s very well socialised with other dogs of all sizes and has previously lived with a smaller dog.
To adopt the most handsome and goodest boy, you can complete the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
For any enquiries or questions about Bailey not covered in his profile, please email his carer Kate at kate.drn70@gmail.com
Please note: Bailey has not yet been desexed. This means he will need to be returned to one of our vets at around 6 months old for this procedure. As a result, he is NOT available for out of area or interstate adoptions. If successful, you will be contacted by one of our amazing carers within 48-72hours to discuss the next steps 🙂 We ask for your patience during this time, and thankyou for taking the time to complete an application.
Baileys adoption fee is $600 which includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping. He is currently up to date with all worm, flea and tick treatments. Bailey is located in the Maitland Area (West of Newcastle NSW).
