About Maddy Melbourne
Maddy also known as “Maddoo” is one of a kind, she will win the hearts of all whom she meets! Maddy has found the transition from the racing industry a challenge, however this resilient lady has taken on the challenge tremendously since coming into her foster home.
Maddy is making progress every day and has conquered many fears such as; household appliances, outdoor noises, and quickly has settled into domesticity with comfort and ease, with some TLC and patience of course.
Miss Maddoo is loyal and loving to the core and will repay you tenfold with snuggles, an abundance of smiles; and her signature teeth chattering usually triggered when she is feeling all loved up or is over excited and ready to roar! This lil lady has a playful and infectious nature which will have you hooked from the get go! She loves to play with her collection of plush toys and will enjoy her kong and a pig ear or two.
One of Maddy’s finest quirks is playing with the Dyson, for when the mood strikes she loves to engage in some good old-fashioned vacuum play! Maddy dreams that her new family will provide her with continuous love, affection, and patience to settle in. Maddy is slowly building reliance in being in her own company, however she would love to live in a home where she has human company throughout her day, as she finds this relaxing and calming.
The adventurous Maddy would absolutely thrive in a home where she can have access to a back yard; as she enjoys pottering around and would love some space to roam and let loose for some classic Greyhound zoomies. Maddy enjoys two 20 minute walks each day and is quite content having a snooze throughout the day in her default roaching position!
Maddy is the type of gal who makes herself at home, you can find Maddy on any plush surface that she can get her paws on, she is particularly fond of the bed, and tends to enjoy it so much that she rolls right off! However, Maddy is a clever lass and has learnt to sleep in her own bed with no complaints. Maddy has also picked up some house manners along the way and will respond to basic commands. Dog parks are a bit overwhelming for this loveable gal, she will take some training and patience to be comfortable in meeting strange dogs.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
