About Pumba
Pumba is a really lovely dog. He’s very affectionate, with a loving faithful nature and is quick to learn and extremely obedient. Currently living in a crew of 6 dogs of mixed ages and two puppies, he’s no trouble at all. He’s patient with the babies and plays with the younger dogs. While he is a young dog, his temperament is more mature, with a calm quiet presence in the home. He slotted in easily and has been very cooperative with household routines and just a pleasure to have around.
On bush walks he stays with the foster carer and the older dogs rather than running off. He has great recall and walks off lead but is very good on a lead as well. He’s trustworthy in the house when no-one’s home and is experienced with letting himself in and out through a dog door. He has a moderate exercise requirement and one walk a day keeps him happy and relaxed. We see Pumba blossoming in an environment where he has a special human to bond with who will love and cherish him.
Pumba had an owner who moved and surrendered him to the pound in Tennant Creek. He was rehomed but another dog in the family repeatedly attacked him so the owners asked us to take him into care. To their relief and ours, he thrived in a safer and more predictable environment.
Our rescue and rehabilitation operation is in Central Australia but because of the scarcity of local adopters we routinely rehome into South Australia. Pumba is currently in foster care near Alice Springs. His adoption fee covers transport to the airport and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide.
