About Polar ~ 2yo Cattle Dog ~ Pending Adoption 29/8/20
Hi I’m Polar and I’m a friendly 2 yr old Cattle Dog x Shepherd x Mastiff x Scottish Deerhound girl. Yes my breed mix sounds complicated but then I’m a girl and us gals are known for our complexities. I’m a medium sized bubbly girl with huge ears and a cheeky smile - I’m speckled all over (that’s my cattle dog genes).
I love being with people and I’m very attentive once I know you - I look to you for approval and guidance - not like my cheeky brother Alaska who is the goofball of our little duo. I’m looking for my new family so there’s a few things on my wish-list - if you think you can meet these then you should inquire about me.
Because I love people so much I’m after a home where I’m welcome inside and I can be included in your family routine and outings. I’m pretty active and adventurous so I’d love a walk or jog each day and to join you when you go out doing stuff. I enjoy car rides so will happily be your co-pilot on short or even long trips in the car. I’d love to be able to sleep inside if you’ll have me (although you may need to show me your house rules and boundaries as I’m sleeping outside currently). I’m good with kids of all ages but would be best suited to a home with no kids or teenagers so that you have more time to focus on your number one gal (that’s me!)
I have to confess that I do enjoy chasing and nipping at the heels of livestock so I’m not cut out to be a farm dog. I’m better suited to city-living or a property with a properly fenced house-yard so that I can’t mingle with cows or sheep or any other wildlife. I have good basic obedience training (sit, stay etc) but my recall isn’t great when there’s something more exciting to do! I am quite good with chickens and ducks but I’m not cat tested.
I live with my brother Alaska (available for adoption separately) and we are good mates. I’m not a fan of dogs outside of our little family although I will tolerate the little Daschy that I live with. I would prefer a home where I’m the only dog for now so that you can focus on my positive socialisation with other calm and friendly canines for a while. I’m a bit of a lone-ranger as I’m quite independent - although I will constantly check you are there when we go out walking.
If you work from home then I’d be in heaven as I can be hang out near you all day. I’m not a fence jumper as I’m used to 4 foot mesh fencing - however if you live in the big smoke then I’ll need higher fencing to keep me safe from the roads as I’m not used to traffic.
If you’re keen for an attentive and affectionate girl like me then please email us on rescuepooch75@gmail.com . I’m located near Singleton (west of Newcastle) but we could arrange a meet and greet closer to Newcastle for my dream family. You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
My adoption fee is $350. I am desexed, vaccinated and microchipped and I’ve been treated for fleas and worms.. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
