Hey hey, Cookie here! I'm your typical smoochy, loving lady and I'm looking for my perfect family. I came into care a scared stray who had been abandoned, and with a deep wound on my side about 2 inches wide, that smelt of dead flesh and infection. The OTC team took me in and got my health back on track naming me one 'tough cookie'. A surgery and 2 courses of meds later, I was just like new!
I have been living with two kittens who I am the cool aunty for- and another adult cat. There are also dogs here. I am getting better and better with the dogs each and every day and I'm great with people! I love to cuddle up on the couch or play near you while you do housework- and I love to talk! I am a very chatty, friendly girl. I am litter trained and go crazy for a good cardboard box to chew- my carer simply keeps old cereal boxes and gives me one to play with every few days and I am a happy girl! My carer works full time hours on a varied roster, so I am used to being home alone with just other cats for company.
I am best suited to a family who understands the safest cats are indoor cats, who will let me sit with them at night on the couch for snuggle and play time. I don't mind if you have dogs as long as they are cat friendly, but it will take me time to get used to them - I won't be their best friend immediately, give me space and time to settle in! It will be rewarded with my happy chatting and purry snuggles for years to come.
So please, if you think I might be the one for you, shoot us a message.

PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All dogs must be collected by the adopting families, from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld. We appreciate your understanding.
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:

- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
