About Benny - Located in St Kilda East
Benny is an extremely fun and active boy! Benny would love an environment where he has ample space to run, play and climb. He's a boisterous lad who needs toys and stimulation to keep him entertained and out of trouble! He is also extremely vocal! Benny will happily tell you what he thinks and is not afraid to demand food! He will talk to you all day - he's a very sweet, communicative and lovely boy. While Benny has made a lot of progress in foster care - he comes from a difficult background and will need some time before Benny will be confident enough to handle. Benny will accept a few gentle pats only at this stage, but expect him to run away from you when he's had enough - although he is improving all of the time.
Benny loves his food! He’s very food (and kitty milk - a favourite treat of his) motivated, so you will see a lot of progress when using food as a reward. He's still cautious of humans as he has a difficult kittenhood - but the way to his heart is definitely through his stomach, and he has made a lot of progress in his time in foster care. He and his brother still spend a lot of time having "introvert time" under the bed, as due to their difficult kittenhood, they are still timid boys. A potential owner ABSOLUTELY MUST be OK with adopting two very independent and introverted cats who will take time to warm up to their surroundings. Having said this, after a few months, they now walk around their foster home quite confidently when they feel like it, but still are wary of their foster carer, only allowing a few slow and gentle pats.
Thomas and Benny are a bonded pair, they talk to each other all day in coos, trills and meows, snuggle in bed together, grooming each other and playing together, which is a delight to watch. They also look out for each other when they can't find the other - they truly are a bonded pair. Their furever home will need to supply lots of toys for their stimulation, as they LOVE playing all day, climbing, running and hiding! IMPORTANT NOTE - COVID19 PRACTICES
Due to the current lockdown in Melbourne we once again need to do things a little differently!
Once you have applied for a cat in our care our fostercarer will contact you by telephone. If at the end of this discussion you would like to process we will then arrange an online meet n greet with the carer and cat.
If you think this cat might be your PURRFECT match we will be utilising our premises at Neko HQ in Preston for the final meet n greet and if agreed adoption as our carers are unable to have guest in their homes. We ask that only one person from the family attend, and that all COVID safe practices are followed to ensure your health and that of our volunteers as well as the general community.
