About Redford
Hi world, the name is Redford but my friends call me Red.
Other than being ridiculously good looking I'm also kind of a genius. I recently found myself at a pound just outside of Melbourne. I know what your thinking... How does a dog as amazing as me find themselves homeless? The pound contacted my friends at Second Chance Animal Rescue to see if they could help me out. Well they took one look at my face said yes!
Ok enough about the past lets talk about what I need from my new humans. I LOVE other doggies and when I say I like to play I mean it. If my home had another dog they would need to be large, silly and up for a rough and tumble. My style of play would be too much for any small doggos or nervous nellies.
My humans will need to be home more often than not which I know is pretty easy at the moment because of this whole virus thing I keep hearing about. But when the world goes back to normal my humans can't just up and leave me home all day, that would suck!
Like I already said, I am super smart! Too smart for my own good I keep being told. I have learnt this really neat trick at the shelter that if my humans leave me unattended in the exercise yard I can just hop over the fence and go and find them. I know I know... it's not what "certified good boys" would do but who wants to be alone when you could be around friends. I'm getting better at entertaining myself when I'm alone and I think in a home with a family that loves me, takes me for exciting adventures, allows me inside on the couch and has high secure fences I would find it a lot easier to stay at home.
My house will need to have Adults Only, I mean I like small children but they don't really seem to like it when I jump all over them so best to be safe. I've seen some feline friends on my adventures and they sure do look fun to play with... My friends at the shelter think it would be best for my house to be cat free as I would likely pester the cat to the point of insanity, which is not fair to the cat I guess.
Now the serious stuff!
My adoption process is FOSTER TO ADOPT which means that my humans will foster me with the view to adopt me if it all works out. The reason I need to be fostered first is so if I do deiced to escape my yard the team at Second Chance can support my new family and help them keep me safe. The shelter will offer free behaviour support while I'm in my foster home which means we can learn together and become the best family we can be.
