About Orana
Howl do you do?
My name is Orana and I am an 18mth old red and tan Kelpie girl looking for a new forever home with someone who has a little bit of knowledge with working dog breeds, a secure yard and lots of patience.
I am a very active young dog who was surrendered to BARC for being extremely vocal, which of course is a very Kelpie thing to do... But I am a quick learner and respond well to training so if you can keep me busy, occupied and focused and are prepared to put the effort into my training then my barking should be controllable.
I was adopted but have found my way back to BARC, I would prefer to live with someone who has a bit of land for me to run and play on and without neighbors to be bothered by my rambunctious activities. I am very stimulated by my surroundings so require a very secure area to call home and will require lots of assistance with my recall training. Better suited to a lifestyle block as I'm very eager to chase sheep although I've no idea how to work them.
I am such a sweet girl, one look into my eyes will prove that and I've an attitude to go with that 'Butter wouldn't melt' look. Id love a family to live with and some kids to keep me active and run around with.
If you think you may have a home for me, among the gum trees with lots of time and activities to keep me busy and a fence area to contain me iin whilst I learn the ropes of being a farm dog then I'm willing to meet with you...
Please call the people at BARC on 5441-2209 to discuss my needs further and arrange a possible meet and greet.
Due to current Covid-19 government restrictions we are unable to allow people from Melbourne Metro areas and the Mitchell shire in our shelter for appointments.
Due to the amount of interest we receive in regards to our animals for adoption we may not respond to all e-mail enquiries.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
