About Lexi
Lexi is a barrel-shaped Staffy X (with Boxer, we think) currently sporting a few extra kilos. This stoic girl is a little wary of new people (especially men) but once she warms (it doesn't take long) you'll see a totally unexpected side to her. We certainly didn't expect this calm, quiet, girl to be prancing with excitement when offered a walk, but she does. She has the most amazingly soft coat and loves having her back scratched, and snuggling on the lounge with you.
She is very strong, but is responding well to a slip lead and walks well. She has lived with other dogs before but we believe always as pack leader. We were told she was dog-selective, but ok with proper introductions--and sofar that's held true. We have not had her off lead, and we've kept on-lead meetings brief to date. She has not shown any aggression, but is very interested in 'meeting' new dogs. Her body is a little tense at these meetings, and her hackles go up as her excitement rises. We do not know what she will do if another dog tries to pick a fight. Lexi is not suited to a home with cats or other small animals. We don't know how she is with kids.
We were told if given bones she will dig. We've only given her small ones sofar, and she mostly just eats these. She *is* food/bone possessive with other dogs (but not with humans). She doesn't really know how to play with toys--if you throw a ball or a frisbee she's excited and wants to chase it, but doesn't grab it or bring it back. She doesn't play tug.
Lexi is toilet trained and we've not had any accidents, but we always give her access to the outside quite frequently, where she will wee on command. She is not destructive--your slippers are safe :) She's also not a licker. Lexi's idea of heaven would be on the lounge with her head in your lap. This girl has been moved through several homes (though no fault of her own), and deserves some stability. If you're comfortable with big dogs why not enquire to meet this loveable boofa?
