About 🐶🐾Dave🐾🐶
Please say a very Squishy hello to our gorgeous mate, Dave! This beautiful big fella is a 2 ½ year old Great Dane x German Pointer, who joined us a few weeks ago. As you can see Dave has been a very busy boy since joining Squishies!
Dave’s hobbies include learning to dance, popping down to the hardware to grab supplies with his foster mum, as well as helping her with new construction projects to expand her skills (after a misunderstanding between Dave and a gate resulted in the need for a new gate!😳😂) and of course being utterly goofy and adorable! This is what Dave’s foster mum had to say about her foster pony!
“Dave is not what most people would think of when they see a big boy like him in rescue. He is not an unruly and untrained dog whose novelty wore off as soon as he grew past a puppy and was then ignored. For the first two and a half years of his life, Dave had a loving family (fur and otherwise). Unfortunately, for both Dave and his family, due to circumstances outside their control, his family were not able to continue to provide a suitable home.
The love and care Dave received from his previous family is clear in his beautiful temperament.
Dave is a gentle, goofy giant with so much love to give. Having lived out of town, he is quickly getting to use to all the noises and smells when walking in a built-up area. He has a lot of strength in him, but has been walking very well on a halti. He lives with two small foster doggo sisters, but what he would really love is a sibling more his size to play with. He has met a range of dogs and, while he can take a little while to warm up, he loves nothing more than to wrestle and have a fetch buddy. Dave is not suited to a home with chickens, cats or pocket pets as he does have a strong prey drive. Having previously been an outdoor dog, he has adapted to indoor life very quickly; has claimed his spot on the couch and sleeps on a bed in his foster mum’s room every night. Dave is an intelligent boy; he knows how to sit, stay, shake and has decent recall skills. Dave’s ideal family would have a large yard with indoor access, be very active and always save him a spot on the couch.”
Dave is in care in Traralgon and applicants must be willing to travel to his foster home for an initial meet.
Dave is now taking expressions of interest from those who have read in full all of his details! Applications here - http://squishiesrescue.org.au/a…/application-flat-faced-dog/
Medical notes
Dave is of course desexed, microchipped, parasite treated, current in vaccinations and recently health checked. Dave does have very mild entropion, but as it doesn’t bother him or cause any discomfort, it doesn’t require surgical intervention.
