About Joker
~ JOKER ~
While Joker isn’t a spring chicken, at 13 years of age he still has a lot of life to live and a lot of love to give. Yes, kittens can be cute and fun, but they are also A LOT of work... An older cat like Joker is going to be a much easier new addition to your home. He isn’t going to be swinging from (and subsequently destroying) your brand-new curtains and he isn’t going to be doing zoomies around the house and bouncing off walls (or your head) at 3am while you’re trying to get some much needed sleep.
After spending his life on the streets without the comfort of a home or family to love him, Joker is still learning that it’s possible to have somewhere soft and warm to sleep. Whilst his preference is to sleep on some blankets, he’s learning to enjoy nap-time in a cube or igloo style bed where he can snuggle in and feel nice and safe.
Having readily available, high quality food is also something new in Joker’s world. Like most former street-cats, he’s not fussy and will very willingly eat any yummy meals he’s offered. Food is also an easy way to his heart!
One of the reasons Joker is a bit quirky because it seemed somewhere in the early stages of life he missed out on the memo to all cats advising that hissing isn’t how you communicate positively… Whilst not fully knowing how to ‘cat’ and choosing to use a hiss rather than a meow as a greeting, Joker will melt into an absolute smooch the moment he is patted or given a scratch under the chin. The first pat is like flicking the ‘on’ switch - once you’ve got his attention and you’ve shown him that your hands offer all the bliss he has previously missed out on, then he’ll happily follow you around and demand more love. He isn’t afraid to tap you on the leg with his paw or give you a head-butt when he’d like some attention. When he’s feeling extra-comfortable and content, he’ll roll over and present you with his belly for a good old rub.
Joker loves soaking up rays of sunshine and can usually be found hanging out near a window getting his vitamin D. He likes being up high, so a cat tree he can climb up and observe his domain from is a must – bonus points if that cat tree is also located in a sunny spot!
Joker has adjusted wonderfully to indoor life. To ensure he is able to enjoy many more years of life, then an indoor-only home is essential for him. If that home happens to come with a secure outdoor cat enclosure then he would be in his element!
Joker is beginning his harness training and has adapted to walking around the house in his harness with a lead attached. The next stage of this process will be building up his confidence outside. So, even if his new home doesn’t have a cat enclosure, he’s well on his way to being able to safely explore the back-yard of his new home on-leash.
Whilst learning to use a litter tray was a new experience for Joker, he’s well and truly got the hang of things now and is very tidy with his tray use – especially if the tray is a large enclosed one (without a flap) or one with high sides. He is happy to use any type of litter except for crystals – it’s just a little too uncomfortable on his paw-pads.
Like any self-respecting gentleman, Joker takes pride in his appearance and is diligent with his personal grooming. He’s always happy to welcome some extra assistance with his grooming though and loves to have his people give him a regular brush. He is also passionate about keeping his claws trimmed and gives his various textured cat scratchers a rigorous workout, leaving the couch alone (another benefit of an older cat over a kitten!!). He likes catnip and loves when it’s sprinkled over his cardboard scratcher.
Joker isn’t keen on being in his cat carrier, and will sing you the song of his people for the duration of any car trip… Even after voicing his displeasure, if he’s off for a vet visit then he’s fine once he’s out getting pats.
Joker does best when he can meet new people in a quiet, calm environment.
Medical notes
Since being rescued from the streets Joker has had a full dental, surgery to remove both eyes and his blood tests have come back all clear of any kidney, thyroid etc issues. He is also desexed, vaccinated and parasite treated.
Joker does not let being blind stop him from enjoying life.

Adoption details
Hear No Evil's Adoption process:
1st Step * You contact us to obtain an adoption application, and discuss the dog of interest.
Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability.
2nd Step * A Meet and Greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and and current dogs is arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a Yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - We understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
3rd Step *Payment of the Adoption fee in full. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records.
Transport arrangements are the financial responsibility of the Adopting party. Hear No Evil are happy to assist with departure preparations and ensuring the dog makes its transport connection.
Final step * Once the 14 day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
