This super handsome tabby lad is around 3-4 years old. We suspect he was part of a family once upon a time but was most likely abandoned some time ago.
When he was trapped and came into care he was terrified and shut down - he has never once hissed or lashed out but he was like a block of stone, cowering in the corner and unwilling to interact.
Over the 8 weeks that he has been in our care we have patiently waited for his wall to come down and finally it is and he is blossoming like a beautiful flower 🌹
Sad Sack is a sweet and gentle boy who just can't get enough of chin scratches and head rubs. He gets soooo into it - and gets very startled when you stop patting!
He is still a very shy boy and his new family will need to have patience with him to help him feel safe and loved and get over his fear of being abandoned again.
But the rewards will be enormous as you'll be gifted with his never ending love and loyalty!
Sad Sack seems very happy with other cats and would also be fine with a calm, cat-friendly dog. Boisterous and excitable children probably aren't his cup of tea but kids who can be gentle and move slowly with him will be just fine.
Please message the page or email avonvalley@safe.org.au if you can offer this boy the home he deserves <3
*Please note that Sad Sack has not yet been tested for FIV/FeLV (Feline AIDS). This will be getting done next Thursday the 4th of June. FIV is common in big boofy tom cats like this boy, so there's a good chance he will test positive.
FIV shouldn't put you off this boy! Check out this article for useful info: https://www.petrescue.com.au/library/articles/caring-for-cats-with-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv
