About Mummy & Jack (Bonded Pair)
Any big hearted owners looking for two senior Jack Russells to spoil with love?
Mummy is a 12-year-old Jack Russell and Jack is her 10-year old son. Two years ago, their owner died, leaving Mummy and Jack to fend for themselves, scavenging for food and living in derelict buildings.
Thankfully someone found and surrendered the mummy-son duo to Forever Friends Animal Rescue, but they had suffered badly during the two years and came to us with medical and behavioural issues.
Upon coming into our care, our vets found that Mummy was in desperate need of dental work, as well as surgery to remove both chains of mammary glands that were riddled with tumours. As these tumours had been left untreated for an unknown amount of time, the surgeries were urgent and essential to eradicate all tumours and eliminate the possibility of cancer in this dear old mum. This tenacious little dog has undergone two surgeries, desexing and dental work and still loves life.
Jack, who is about 10 years old, was in good health but needed dental work and desexing too. He has a minor heart murmur which will likely get worse as he ages and may need medication in the future.
Forever Friends Animal Rescue has spent in excess of $4,000 in vet fees to get these guys well and ready for the next chapter in their lives. They are worth it.
They both have early signs of arthritis, as you’d expect from a couple of senior dogs.
Jack can go for longer walks but Mummy prefers a shorter walk and lay in the sun in the garden.
Their foster carer has worked miracles and the dogs both look 5 years younger than when they came to us. Mummy has suffered with itchy skin, and due to her foster carer’s healthy diet options Mummy’s skin condition is now under control. Regular commercial dog food will cause her skin to break out – so we are looking for someone willing to go the extra mile and provide a healthy, fresh diet.
Mummy and Jack need calm and confident owners, with a quiet home, with lots of love and patience. Ideally you will have had some experience with timid or fearful dogs. We are looking for someone who understands them and is willing to work with them. They will need on-going training. We fear these dogs may have been mistreated at some time as they came to us extremely anxious and fearful.
They are not children friendly, so no children under 12.
They need a pet-free home where they will get the lion’s share of attention.
They came to us with no manners and had never worn a collar or lead. Our foster carer has made incredible progress with them and they now walk on leads. They are very clever little dogs and have learned to sit and do tricks such as play dead and hug.
They are house-trained and are okay when left alone.
Mummy and Jack’s personalities are total opposites. Jack can be a couch potato and Mummy stays outside most of the day.
Would you like to share your life with these amazing little dogs who have been through so much and came out the other side still wagging their tail?
Their adoption fee would normally be $350 each, but as a bonded pair their adoption fee is $525 for both dogs.
