About Jess ^^Dandy Cat Rescue^^
🐱🐱 $80 adoption fee, negotiable for the right home 🐱🐱
Jess is a special needs kitty who needs someone very special. Jess and her kitten Laurence arrived into our care after being fed as strays in a local neighbourhood. Although a bit timid at first, Jess has really opened up in foster care, while her kitten has moved on to his forever home.
Jess is a very affectionate girl once she trusts you, she wants to be patted and be next to you as much as possible and she is getting used to being picked up and held, and she is fine with it too.
But after noticing that Jess had a strange way of eating, it was confirmed with our vet that she has flare-ups of gingivastomatitis, a condition that will need ongoing management with cortisone injections.
Her flare-up that triggered the diagnosis was successfully managed with a cortisone injection. The inflammation dissipated overnight however she may get random flare-ups which would require a trip to the vet for a cortisone injection (to her body, not her mouth) every 4-6 weeks or so.
We need someone to adopt this lovely girl who will ensure she gets her cortisone shot when needed. Her adopter will need to watch and learn about her eating habits (which settled back to normal after the injection) to know when she has a flare up. But it is not difficult to notice.
Her diet needs to include raw chicken wings or fish heads, whole sardines etc as well as dental treats and access to dry food to help keep her gums in good shape.
Jess will be well worth the investment for someone who wants to adopt a cat truly in need. Jess will bond with you deeply and will show her incredibly affectionate side once you earn her trust. She has a lovely purr on her and she stares into your eyes with a very moving look of love. She is so grateful for everything she is given – but to her, your attention is the most precious gift of all.
Jess needs a quiet home with 1-2 adults or a family with older children. She will need to be the only pet in the home (although she will likely accept a younger kitten down the track) and she will need be allowed to sleep with her people/person at night.
Located at Fairfield.

Medical notes
Jess has flare-ups of gingivastomatitis, a condition that causes inflammation of her gums on the right-hand side of her lower jaw. This condition can sometimes require teeth extraction, although our vet advises that this is not generally considered to be a likely treatment option for Jess.
The flare-up while in foster care that triggered the diagnosis was successfully managed with a cortisone injection. The inflammation dissipated overnight however she may get random flare-ups which would require a trip to the vet for a cortisone injection (to her body, not her mouth) every 4-6 weeks or so.

Jess has been tested and is FIV negative.
