About Simba
Since I was born I have been what they call a stray,
No one wanted me, no one wanted me to stay.
For the past 7years I have lived on the streets.
I would try and find whatever I could to eat.
That was until I met a lady she didn’t shoo me away,
She would talk softly and asked me to stay,
I would sit beneath the bushes as she filled up my dish each day,
I would only venture out to eat when she went away,
I know it upset her when I turned away to hide,
As everyday she tried her best to get me by her side.
I wish I could tell her that I didn’t really want to run,
And I hope that she understands that it’s nothing she has done.
I have always wished for somebody who would care.
I'm so tired of running and being hungry with despair.
I have prayed that someone will love me and give me a home,
A warm cozy bed, and food of my own.
One day I decided to venture near,
And I was greeted with I little scratch behind the ear.
And so it began our little routine,
This lady always made sure I had a fully belly and was clean.
I started to get close and started to trust.
She would give me a scratch on the head and I would give a head bump.
One day I turned up bleeding, battered and bruised.
The lady picked me up and said she wasn’t amused.
It was from then on I was never outside.
I had a house and enclosure and dinner was always on time.
I often look out the window when it storms,
And I am so happy I finally have somewhere warm.
I now greet my foster mum walking up to her legs.
She gives me a little scratch and I listen to what she says.
I love giving her love with head bumps and nudges,
And day by day we get closer to each other.
My foster mum said one day I will have a home of my own with someone who understands,
Some one who will love me for me who knows that I’m unique young man.
