About Strudel
Hi there! My name's Strudel... I guess they call me that because I'm as sweet and popular as a tasty dessert!
I'm a big handsome boy with bucketloads of personality. I love toys, playtime, treats, people - in fact, there's not too many things I don't like! I love hanging out with people and charming them with my outgoing ways. I love sunbaking too, I guess warm strudel is the best kind right? My bubbly personality and entertaining ways have won over all the Greyhound Rescue volunteers and if you take me home, I'm sure they'll win you over in no time at all too!
The sights and sounds of the city might be a bit too overstimulating for me, so I'd prefer a home in the suburbs with some people who can help me learn about walkies in a fun and gradual way, maybe with some chicken treats to help encourage me? Oh boy, I would LOVE that!
A note from Strudel's foster pawrents
Strudel is a super affectionate boy who absolutely loves his humans and meeting new people. He gets super excited to see you when you get home, his tail spinning a full 360 degrees and he’ll lean heavily against you for pats and attention, he loves to be close to you and will roll on to his back almost immediately for belly pats.
Strudel can get easily overwhelmed by his environment so is on medication to help reduce anxiety and promote his learning capability, his easy engagement with humans and his almost obsessive love of food makes him an excellent training candidate. He does great on his own during the day and would suit a full time working professional as he’s more than happy to snooze the day away. He would also thrive on a consistent routine and will make it known if dinner is running behind schedule.
Strudel is still quite young and has bursts of energy and playfulness where he doesn’t quite know his own strength so a home without young children would be best. He generally does well on lead with other dogs but can be a bit excitable sometimes and doesn’t like them getting up in his face, communicating well when he is uncomfortable so would prefer to be a solo dog.
The big outside world is still quite new and overwhelming sometimes so short walks, lots of encouragement and patience are needed. He loves his walks though and will bounce around excitedly when the lead comes out and has improved immeasurably since he has been in foster. Be careful coming across strangers though, he will insist on saying hello and asking for lots of pats!
Strudel is in foster in a house with a large yard and is used to having inside/outside access during the day via a dog door that he uses very well. He absolutely loves to lie and roll in the grass so would prefer a yard or very quiet courtyard where he can continue to have regular access outside. He’s not a fan of birds and is very good at keeping them out of the yard, he also shows far too much interest in cats so none of them please.
Strudel is a young boy who will blossom in time with lots of patience and love, if you’re looking for a mate to snuggle with you on the couch in the evenings and go for slow strolls in the afternoon then he’s your pupper!
Medical notes
Strudel can get easily overwhelmed by his environment so is on medication to help reduce anxiety.
Adoption details
All of Greyhound Rescue's adoption and foster placements are on a case-by-case basis. We go to great lengths to match each dog with their new family to make sure that both dog and family are happy. We offer post-adoption support to our rescue community so that each adoptive family and hound are cared for.
We will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Greyhound Rescue's adoption fee is $420. All our hounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and heartworm tested and treated. The adoption fee also includes our New Adopter Kit - collar, leash, muzzle and loads of other goodies to help you get your new hound settled into the family.
