About Ted ~ 6yo Red Kelpie(On Trial 30/07/20)
Hi I’m Ted! I’m a 6 year old Stumpy Tailed Red Kelpie boy. I love nothing more than spending time with you and cuddling on the couch.
I’ve had a rough start to life and so have a few requirements from my new family to ensure that we’ll definitely be a perfect fit for each other. I need someone who is experienced with dogs and will be patient with me while I’m getting used to my new home. I haven’t had a huge amount of socialisation or walking experience and will need someone willing to continue my training and be understanding with my lead reactivity. Since living with my foster sister and following her lead, I've reacted less to other dogs than I did before.
My ideal forever home is one where I’m included as a member of the family, and one who doesn’t mind me joining them on the couch for cuddles. I love being around my humans and being involved in family life. I could potentially get along well with an easygoing female but would be more than happy with a home where someone is home to spend time with me. If I am to have a sister in my new house, we’d need to have a few meetings to make sure we’re going to get along well.
I have the basics down pat, I can sit, shake, drop, stay and I wait very patiently for my dinner. I’m very treat motivated so would learn more skills easily if you wanted me to. As I said earlier, I get very excited about going on walks and get very excited seeing other dogs which leads me to be a bit too boisterous. this tends to cause other dogs to react negatively, so I’m best walked on quiet streets and kept away from dog parks and beaches. Although if I’m being honest, I’m more than happy to chase a ball in the back yard and then just nap with you.
Due to my rough start I do suffer from night terrors, so I cant go to a home with children, older teens only please. If I’m disturbed while sleeping, I can snap and lash out when I don’t realise where I am. I would hate to have a child accidentally wake me and get hurt. My foster parents have learnt that I wake up happily if they play their alarm sound on their phones. I’m always happy and full of energy in the morning.
I prefer to have you home all the time, but I’m not destructive when you go out. I do however get very vocal when you leave and when you return, but I settle down quickly enough. If you have to work away from home, a friendly sibling would be a must!
With the right family I will be a very loving and loyal dog. If you think you’ll be the right fit for me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with my foster carer.
I am currently in care in the Newcastle area, NSW. For more information, email Jaime at jaime-hunter@outlook.com or you can fill out the adoption form online at https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt

(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
