About Bob ~ 6yo Mixed Breed ~ On Trial 6/7/2020
Introducing Bob, our sweet 6 year old mixed breed. Bob is supposedly a Mastiff x but he looks more like an English Staffy possibly with some Labrador or Ridgeback mixed in. He’s got a short and stocky staffy body and a Labrador or Ridgy’s boofy head ! No matter what breed mix he is Bob is an affectionate dog who loves his people once he is comfortable with them.
Bob can be shy with new people but he’s learning to say hi when introduced to new people - he especially enjoys receiving a treat. He’s sweet as a button once he is settled into a new environment but can be a little unsure of things at first. His new family will need to help socialise him In a positive and understanding way.
Bob loves his morning walks - after he’s worn off some energy he is a laid back dog who would rather rest at your feet for the majority of the day instead of playing with his toys in the back yard.
He is mainly an inside dog who sleeps inside. He’s certainly way too family focused to be a yard dog so his new family will need to welcome him into their home and include him in their daily activities. He can be vocal if left outside on his own so he’ll need some training to learn that being in the yard can be fun and rewarding too.
Bob has nice basic manners - he doesn’t jump on you, he comes when called (most of the time!), doesn’t get up to too much mischief and he’s great inside the house. He’s well past the naughty puppy stage of chewing and digging which can be a real bonus when adopting an adult dog.
Bob gets on with other dogs - although he does like to bark for attention when new dogs are around and he can run away from them if they bark back at him! He walks well on a leash - but does need to learn some lead manners when seeing other dogs. He gets super excited and can bark in his excitement so he'll need some lead training with quiet introductions to some other calm, friendly dogs
Bob can at times be nervous meeting some men however he is learning to be more confident . Bob’s new owners need to be patient with him, giving him lots of love and his own space to let him adjust to new things and people. His ideal home would be with calm and experienced dog-owners - a home with no kids to overwhelm him with their excitement.
Bob would be OK as an only dog or with a very social female adult dog. He would suit semi retirees or someone who works from home who would enjoy the company of their very own canine office assistant.
Bob is a lovely boy who is looking for his place in the world. For more information on our nugget Bob please contact John on johnpgid@yahoo.com.au . Bob is located in Medowie (north of Newcastle). You can also fill out our adoption form online at https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
