About Pumpkin (Buddy of Butternut)
These two cute guinea pigs were released by a laboratory that would normally experiment on guinea pigs. These were surplus to their requirement and under the Right to Release Bill, they opted for them to be released into rescue (44 of them) just before Christmas. They were all vet checked and well, and we know they are now 9 weeks of age. No experimentation has occurred with them at all.
Butternut arrived with the larger ones having bitten his ears and they were bleeding. We had to quickly find who he was settled with and this was Pumpkin. They have been together the whole time while his little ears were healing. They are both sweethearts.
These two were bonded together and have been settled the whole time. As guinea pigs from a laboratory, they are now to experience what grass is, fresh food and cuddles. They have had no human contact until they came into rescue. They respond very quickly and as prey based animals are more fearful than anything.
With their diet and as they are babies, you need to give them basic foods to help build up their gut biome. Check-in with the Cavy Central group for a list of foods that is suitable and anything unusual introduce slowly and in small ways only if they are allowed to have it.
These piggies are utterly beautiful and want to be loved.

Please note that there is an adoption process and in order to ensure that the animals have a safe environment to go to there are some questions that need to be addressed.
We do not want impulse purchases and this adoption process is in order to ensure that piggies and bunnies in care will find safe and loving homes and families.
If you are such a family - I would love to hear from you.
Thanks, Lyn.
