About Monte
Hi, the name is Monte. I was born approx November 2018. I was rescued from death row after my owners didn't come to claim me from the pound. Well, their loss! I am a beautiful doggo who deserves a great life. I came in very under weight and covered in fleas, but in no time I was back on my feet. My breed mix is a guess by our vet teams, but as we all know, breed doesn't matter nearly as much as how big our hearts are! I currently eat Advance Large Breed biscuits, and should stay on a good quality biscuit for the rest of my life to ensure I have the best possible health.
Currently I sleep inside in lounge room in crate most nights at my foster home, occasionally not in crate if I'm not trying to sneak into my foster dad's bed, hehe. I am alone for 2-3 hours per day and currently live with 2 dogs and a cat. I am friendly with the cat and give her space but I do like to see what she is up to. I am not fussy when it comes to fencing, I currently live in a yard where the lowest fence is 4ft, I'm not interested in leaving the yard as I have everything I need here. I live with a teenage boy and an adult also, and love both so much!
I LOVE toys, the durable ones are the best! Commands I know are sit and wait for food and to go outside or on my bed. I don’t react to anything inside the house. I do get over excited when I see other people or dogs on walks, but my foster believes with some lead training and regular walking I will improve!
I am crate trained, and will not only sleep inside it but will spend time in it during the day (including when my foster is out). I have no issue with it and will go into it on my own accord. A crate is definitely recommended in my new home.
I will admit I am an excitable boy at times and jump up for attention, but I'm trying to work on that. It's not my fault, I'm just not to so many people loving on me! I have no food aggression, and am a sweet, gentle boy.
My ideal home will allow me to sleep inside at night, preferably in a crate, and will take me out a few times a week for walks/runs/park sessions. I deserve to see this world and run, roll and sniff! I would prefer to have another dog as company, as we are not sure how I will go living on my own. If you don't have another dog that is ok too, as long as you are home a lot and can take me to see other dogs a few times a week. Don't let my great social skills go to waste!
I came into care from death row with my other pound mate, Carlo. Get it? Monte Carlo...yeah, the rescue is running out of names, hehe. He's the one in the video with me. If you know someone who will love him forever too, please check out his profile!
You'll notice I have a strange walk, and tend do a weird hopping thing... Don't worry, my rescue had extensive testing done on me, including xrays. I show no signs of pain during any examinations, and xrays were fine too. The specialist consulted said I will live a normal, happy life, but am just a bit 'special'. As is standard with large breeds, it's just important to keep a good diet for me, and not encourage me to jump eg onto and off ute backs or tables. Gotta look after those joints! There are two videos up- one which shows my walk, and one which shows my hop.
If I sound like the perfect puppa for you please contact my rescue today! M x

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
