About Dolly
Dolly arrived at our rescue in a neglected state. She was found abandoned on a street in Melbourne’s west and transported by a kindly person to a local vet who then asked us if we would take her. Of course, we said yes straight away and named her Dolly. At first, we estimated Dolly to be around 3-4 years old. Urine stained and awfully thin, she spent time at our rescue gaining weight and receiving lots of tlc.
When Dolly recently went in for her desexing surgery, boy were we shocked, as was the vet at what he found. He estimated her to be at least 6 years old, her poor old body riddled with uterine cancer. Several masses were removed along with a part of her intestine which had become stuck to other organs and tissue, (very similar to endometriosis in humans) the vet said this would have been an extremely painful condition for her and was a direct result of over breeding. This girl has spent the majority of her adult life pregnant, bred, over and over again by callous humans for financial gain.
Dolly is now recovering with one of our volunteers being loved and living in comfort like she always deserved, but never got.
We would love Dolly to find her forever home with someone special who will treat her during her final years of life like the princes she deserves to be. If you would like to offer Dolly that special home, please contact us.
