About Amber ~ 6.5yo Border Collie (On Trial 14/2/20)
Amber is a stunning 6.5 year old Border Collie. She is shy and timid, yet curious and will seek you out for attention once she gets to know you.
Amber is currently living with a 3 year old Kelpie cross. She has not been exposed to cats or pocket pets since being in care. She and her foster brother both occupy each others time throughout the day and when we are home from work she starts running around the yard looking for toys! One of her favourite activities is fetch and we think she could go all day if allowed!
Amber’s ideal home is with someone or a family who will focus on her continued training and socialisation. She can be in a home with or without another pet, children or no children. You will need to understand she needs time to adjust to her new environment, with people (she still runs away from us!!) as well as her new furry companion. She will need good fencing as when she is scared (thunder or strangers who want to approach her) she will try to escape (if outside), not by digging but by finding any small space and trying to weasel her way out - which she has done!
Amber is unsure about walks as she is unsure about the world outside of the yard. She will happily plod along side by side with her foster brother, occasionally pulling from side to side. When she sees a stranger approaching she will stand still and wait for them to pass before continuing. She will require ongoing socialisation with people and dogs - this will help her grow confident.
Amber is toilet trained provided she has access to take herself outdoors to do her business. We also reinforce her good habits by saying “wee wee” each time she goes and giving her a pat after she does. She knows sit, on your bed and we are working on stay. She is crate trained and this would help a lot when there is thunder.
For more information regarding Amber, please contact her foster carer Jasmine by email, drn.jasmine@gmail.com . Amber is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW and is not available for adoption interstate. You can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
Amber’s adoption fee is $350, and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
