About Magic and Maestro
Amazing Transformation After Makeover...
Two older Maltese X dogs spent a terrible Christmas when they found themselves in the pound in the heat. This was probably the last place they wanted to be and their heavily matted coats would not have helped matters.
They were in a cage surrounded by larger barking dogs and, in the confusion of all their changes, the male who is also partially blind, did not fare too well. He showed a lot of aggression so pound personnel were hesitant about moving forward with his bail out.
However, the minute a lead was hooked to his collar and he walked from the cage, his whole attitude changed... Both dogs seemed to exhibit relief as they squeezed onto the console in my car so they could make the most of the air-conditioning..... They were quite happy to let me pat and cuddle them which was a relief to me because I was expecting the worst.
However, their coats were in a disgraceful condition with big chunks of matted fur and large Noogoora burrs wound into their fur. I momentarily stopped at the vet to have vaccinations, microchips etc. done and then thought the vet would have trouble getting needles through the matted clumps so I rang our grooming life saviour - Dianne from "For Pet's Sake" who told me to bring them over immediately.
Well it took three hours but it was worth it... Our little duo were unrecognizable and smelled and looked amazing.
Apparently the boy we have called Maestro even had lengths of wire entangled in his fur which was digging into his belly whenever he moved.
The little lady is called Magic and she is such a lively and playful little madam while Maestro is more reserved but that doesn't stop him from enjoying attention
