About Kaley
Hi there, I'm Miss Kaley and I'm looking for my happy forever after! I am an older lady, coming into my senior years and hoping to find a family to grow old and settle down with. I am a predominately inside dog, can be inside all night without accidents, but do love a good sunbake during the day.
I love hanging out with my people, so a family who work from home or can take me to work with them would be amazing! although I understand if you can't. I am quite happy being an only dog, otherwise a older or small breed dog companion would be preferred. I am ok with kids, but tend to avoid them if I can. Having lived a hard life previously to coming into OTC care, I do have some health notes you should be aware of. Other than those I am a happy and healthy lady.
I love walks, my chew toys, cuddles and wrestling. I am obsessed with car rides and I'm pretty good in a bath too. Oh, and if I haven't mentioned already, I am good with cats. So please, if you are seeking a mature woman to fill the gap in your family, I will be awaiting your application.
My ideal home has lots of time for me, a secure yard, no kids or kids over 8yrs old, and will take me out a few times a week to see the world. They'll let me sleep inside, and give me belly rubs daily. My perfect family will take care of me per the medical notes below, and finally give me the love and care I really deserve. Could that be you?
Medical notes
When I came into care, I had several broken and infected teeth. I have had them removed now, but because I have teeth missing, I should not be given bones. I can eat my biscuits just fine though!
I need to eat a normal adult dog diet that is fish or kangaroo based - chicken and beef can make my skin itchy. Brand suggestions: Blackhawk Fish & Potato, or SavourLife Kangaroo. Approx $6/kg bought from PetCircle. A spoon of cooked mashed pumpkin once a day on top of my breakfast also helps keep my digestion moving nicely.
I will need quarterly health checks to ensure my anal glands don't need to be expressed. If this is not done, I will develop infected anal glands which is very painful. The appointment is generally only 15min every 3 months and is just a standard consult.

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
