About Paddington
Paddington is a one and a half year old Chihuahua male. He currently weights in at 2.5kg. Although small this boy has spunk, and wants to play, play play. He loves people and will make for a wonderful close companion pet.He likes to cuddle on your lap and bonds to both men and women. He is shy and timid upon first meeting new people but after a few hours will be wanting to kiss you.
Paddington is very playful and likes a game of tug, fetch, chasey and a good wrestle. Although small he throws his whole body into it and happily plays ruff and tumble with an 8kg dog also in care. He would love to have another dog in the house as he is happiest when he has a friend to play with.
He is toilet trained, travels well in the car and is well behaved inside the house. He currently sleeps under the covers in this foster carers bed.
Paddington also enjoys "Walkies" and is currently enjoying two walks a day.
We are looking for the following in his new home:
Adult only home (he is too small for young children)
Owners who are home a lot or can take their dog to work
A home where there is a young playful dog in residence
This boy will not be suitable for a home where the adults are all frail or very elderly.
If you can provide him with an awesome home, please answer the following questions via email or call Robyne on 0411069622: He was still available for adoption on 18th January.
Number of people who live in the home and their ages?
Do all adults work full time?
How many hours per day would the dog be left alone?
Do you own the home or renting?
Will the dog live outside or inside the home?
If inside, will he have full access to the house or only allowed in certain rooms?
Where will the dog sleep at night?
How often will the dog be taken for a walk?
How long are the walks ie 15minutes,30minutes,1 hour?
Are there any outings or activities the dog will be included in other than walks?
Are there any other dogs currently in the house? If yes, what breed?
If not, when did you last own a dog and what breed was it?
How regularly will the dog be clipped?
What food do you like to feed your dog?
Do you give your dog any sort of monthly treatment to keep it free from fleas, worms etc?
Feel free to describe the sort of life a dog can expect to live in your family.
Medical notes
Paddington has a few medical conditions that require daily treatment.
His hair is thin to non existent in places so needs sun block administered prior to the daily walk in summer.
He is missing glands on his eye lids that would normally secrete various fluids onto the eyeball to keep it lubricated(these glands will never grow nor can they be created surgically). He will need lubricating gel(purchased over the counter at any chemist) placed into his eyes twice a day for the rest of his life.
The above tasks take approximately one to two minutes per day to attend too. He will need to find a home where an adult has the time and diligence to ensure they are done every day without fail.
He has seen a dog Ophthalmologist (doggie eye specialist) and further information can be supplied on application.

Adoption Process
1. Complete the Application Form and email to re.grant@yahoo.com.au
2. Completed Application Forms will be reviewed. A shortlist of preferred applicants are chosen consisting of around 3-4 applicants who best match the dogs needs. Only those shortlisted applicants will be contacted for further information. It is not unusual for me to receive 100 applications for any one dog(especially if it’s young and healthy) so contacting everyone is just not viable.
3. Those shortlisted applicants will then be contacted no later than two weeks from the date of application. If you have not been contacted within two weeks of making application, then assume that you have not been shortlisted.
4. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide a Vet reference. This means that with the applicants permission, I will contact their Vet to see how well they have looked after any current or past dogs.
5. I then conduct viewings with the few applicants that have excellent references to see if they like the dog and visa versa. This usually involves around 1-3 potential families.
6. Once a preferred applicant is chosen, I then conduct a fence check at their home to ensure it’s secure.
7. If both parties are comfortable to proceed, then adoption takes place. The adoption fee is paid, an adoption agreement is signed and a two week trial begins. Adoptive parents can return the dog within the two week trial period and receive a full refund if things don’t work out.
