Hey everyone! My name is Nicholas/Nick. I was rescued from death row in a council pound. I'm lucky to be here and grateful for my foster parents and Off The Chain for saving me! Nobody knows why I was abandoned, but I had no vet work done at all and was a bit thin, so I don't think they really miss me anyway. Thankfully now, I'm never looking back!
I currently live on my own with adult humans, but have lived with other dogs (small, medium and large breeds) and absolutely love other dogs. I love to play with the other dogs so would prefer to either have another dog at home, or go to parks to play with friends! At night I sleep either inside in a crate, or out on the deck on the futon. I don't really have a preference. I have met young children and like them a lot! They give me snuggles and let me give them kisses. My leash skills are coming along nicely and I really love my adventures at the park, I make sure I find all the good sticks!
I am very non reactive - definitely not a barker. I don't mind the neighbours dogs barking, people or dogs passing by, thunder etc. I am mostly toilet trained already, and show no signs of food aggression. I sit automatically when I see my food coming, and know 'sit' 'paw' 'stay' 'bed', 'Nick', 'out'; and 'wait' is coming along nicely too. My breed mix is just a guess by my rescue and vets, and I am expected to reach around 30kg as an adult. But we all know breed doesn't matter anyway! It's the size of the heart that does, and I have a huge one! I love to play with my toys and be tucked in at night to go to sleep!
I currently live behind a 1.2m fence and my ideal home has this or higher, another dog for me to play with, and will promise to take me out 4 times a week for off-leash runs and walks too. I have medium energy levels and while I love my play time, I am also a pretty big Netflix and chill type. I'm definitely a lap doggo who'd love to hang with you.
So what do you think? Could I be the one for you?

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
