About Buster
Buster is a 10 month old Great Dane x who was surrendered to a rural pound with his sister. He has no idea about his size or personal space so be prepared to always have a part of his body touching yours (but seriously who doesn't mind a good dog snuggle). Everyone who meet him falls in love, and how could you not?! Look at those brown eyes, floppy ears and velvety nose! He is a LARGE dog so please keep this in mind before applying to adopt Buster.
For a pup, he’s amazingly chilled once settled in to a home, really enjoying a snooze on the couch. Buster came into care with no basic training and he’s now learnt to sit, lie down and go to his mat. He is also toilet trained once settled into a home. He is good on the lead, but does pull a bit when he wants to go and say hi to other doggies so ongoing training is recommended. He can’t go for walks without people stopping to pat him and he’s happy to suck up all the attention from new friends.
He doesn’t have a single mean bone in his body, and gets along well with other dogs AND cats (a dog savvy cat who won't be intimidated by his size would be best). When smaller dogs scared of his size bark at him, he would usually look up at you as if to ask “Why don’t they like me? Have I done something wrong?”. He can be a bit clumsy when playing with other dogs so is better suited with larger playmates.
When he’s home alone he could become a bit bored, so food dispensing toys left around would keep him busy between naps. When you come home, he will greet you with a waggy tail, but he doesn’t jump up in excitement and he’s happy to wait 5 minutes for you to sort your things out before turning your full attention to his sloppy kisses.
Buster is a quick learner and he would like to learn whatever you want to teach him so ongoing training would keep his puppy brain stimulated and would make him the best behaved dog around. He needs a home with space to run around and a doggy friend would also be great too, however he would equally be fine on his own. He is too large and clumsy for small children so won't be rehomed with them.
This boy has stolen his carers heart and is ready to steal yours too!
