Tee Jay

Large Male Golden Retriever

Located in Queensland

Tee-jay has been with us for several months now, surrendered by a family with so many children (and more on the way) that tj was essentially being chronically neglected. And after getting to know tee-jay a little better we decided that something was not quite right with how he perceived himself in the world. . . So we did some further investigating into his former life and learned that tee-jay was not only neglected but also spent the majority of his life chained up in his backyard (only let off for a 10 minute play with the kids then back on the chain). This is a terribly sad and cruel life for any dog, and shed a huge amount of light on some noticeable changes in tee-jay's behavior soon after he was placed into foster care. These changes revealed tee-jay's constant curiosity with everything around him and a determined desire to explore a world he had obviously never had the opportunity to experience ever before (we would too if were in lock up for most of our life!), so tj was relocated into more experienced foster care whereby his carer has been helping tj become a much more relaxed boy when out in the big wide world and to understand where his place is in that world. We have come to know that tee-jay can be spontaneous, likes adventure and needs a home where it is okay for him to be interested in everything that is happening and moving in his space (dogs in other yards, birds in trees, mice in the shed), but secure enough that tee-jay’s curiosity will not lead him to trouble. Tee-jay has tons of energy, and loves lots of exercise. His new forever home will need to be able to give him lots of exercise, have secure fencing, and be willing to put extra time into tee-jay until he understands his new boundaries and ‘pack leaders’. Tee-jay may have spent life on the end of a chain but he is now very much an inside boy being fully housetrained so his new family must understand that when they are away from home tj must be inside where he feels he belongs and is safe until your return. Tee-jay loves traveling in the car, and walks well on a leash. In saying all this, tee-jay’s biggest asset is his affectionate nature, he is a born cuddler, and loves nothing more than lots of hugs, cuddles, pats… he will spend hours nearly sitting on your lap if you let him. He adores children and is very good with them. He loves playing with other dogs but is not a huge fan of cats or birds. He is very loyal and loving and will be very devoted to his forever ‘pack leaders’. Tee-jay is currently located in brisbane and comes microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated for heartworm, intestinal worms, fleas and ticks for an adoption fee of $450
