Hi everyone!
My name is Macey, my sister Stacey and I came into care after our breeder couldn't sell us and finally asked for some help rehoming us responsibly. Are we one heck of a success story or WHAT! While we are very friendly and gentle girls, we were absolutely terrified. At 5 months of age, we had never left our breeder's yard, never been in a car, never met other humans besides our family, never been inside, never been to a vet... so as you can imagine, everything was absolutely terrifying to us!! We were so scared we shut down and couldn't walk, and had to be carried inside...
The first two days in care, we hid and shook mostly. Thankfully my carers were patient and coaxed us with treats and snuggle time. I was very brave at the vet, and let them do what they had to do. After they checked me out, and found I was a very healthy and lovely girl, I was split from my sister. We were relying on each other too much see, and it was time for us to stand on our own four paws. Without my sister to rely on, my confidence is growing by the day! While I do seek reassurance from my carer and prefer to have a safe space to return to if needed, I don't have the same soul-crippling fear I once had. I have at all times been gentle and trusting, and have a world of opportunity in front of me. I mostly prefer a calm and predictable environment as things such as unexpected noises or unfamiliar surroundings can make me a little nervous but I am being introduced to new things by my carer all the time in a safe and positive way. I am a lover of pats and cuddles, and will follow my carers as they potter around the yard.
I never knew what the word “play” meant before I came into care but my two canine foster siblings have taken me under their guiding paws and have been teaching me to play fetch. Sometimes I struggle with the concept of picking up and object but I’m happy to join in on the fun of running. So far I have learned sit, on your bed, out, and stay but I am a keen learner who would love to continue training.
At night I sleep outside under the patio, with the other dogs. We have our own beds out there. I enjoy being inside when I’m allowed and will sometimes sneak inside if the door isn’t locked. I seem to be pretty naturally house trained, so as long as you're willing to continue to teach me, I should be ok as an inside dog too! My current fence is 6ft though I would most likely be ok with shorter fences as I have don’t seem to have no desire to escape my safe place.
So what do you think? Could you love me? I know I could love you... please apply to meet me asap!!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
