About Boss ~ American Staffy X (6/11/19)
Boss is a boy who everyone falls in love with. Not only is he is awesome looking with his black and white shiny coat and lovely markings, he also has a personality that will melt anybody's heart. Boss is 18 months of age.
Being super friendly with everyone he meets, he is always looking for pats and cuddles. He absolutely adores his humans and wants to be with you 24/7. So if your inside he wants to be inside, if your outside he will go outside and if you are hoping in the car that too is where he wants to be. He doesn’t enjoy being without human company and in true Staffy form he will cry for your attention. This is something we are working on and slowly he is getting better with separation anxiety. He will however require a lot of attention in the beginning, as he needs to feel safe and loved and that will most likely mean he will need to sleep with his humans. Not necessarily in your bed (he would absolutely love that) but a bed next to yours where you can help him relax enough to sleep. As time goes on I'm sure his neediness will reduce once he knows he is safe and secure in his new surrounds.
Boss is a lovely boy to walk and doesn’t pull. He likes to walk with you, but enjoys stopping along the way to get pats. He is friendly with dogs he meets along the way. Doesn’t show aggression when meeting even if they are not so nice to him. Even though a lovely boy he is definitely not compatible with small pets. This means rabbits, guinea pigs and even dogs that are smaller than him. As he builds his confidence so too does his rough play. If you already have a dog they need to be one of similar breed or one that is roughly the same size/weight as him. Currently he is 20kg, but he still needs to bulk up.
Although American Staffy he isn’t big, he is more like an English staffy in stature and personality. So yes he is needy and stubborn. But unlike a lot of Staffies he has good recall. His doesn’t have great stamina so won't suit a family of runners or super active households. He is happy to have a stroll then come home and have a good sleep on you cause as far as he is concerned he is a lap dog.
As with most Staffy breeds he loves kids, however as with all Staffy breeds he does like to jump onto your legs when seeking attention and some people find that intimidating. His claws are sharp and can scratch accidently but apart from that he is a gentle boy with people.
Even though not overly energetic he has amazing cat like abilities. This means he can climb pretty much anything. He was an escape artist with his previous owner and I feel to prevent him from escaping you must give him plenty of love, attention and food. He will not sit still waiting for you to come home. He is still a puppy at heart and must be provided with toys and durable ones at that, otherwise you will be buying toys daily.
He is very good at sitting and rolling over for belly rubs. He will wait for his food to be put in front of him but once in front he pretty much gulps it down. He also enjoys staying clean and loves bath time, which I think is fantastic.
If you are after a lap dog, but not your typical lap dog as this one is great with children and other humans than you need to meet this boy.
